Wayne Mosley is a surgeon who has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq for 16 of the last 30 months in the Global War on Terror and will return soon from a fourth tour of duty.
A member of the US Army Reserves since 1987, Lt. Col. Mosley was first called to serve his country directly in 2003, in support of American and Coalition forces in Afghanistan. In two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq, he has earned the Combat Medic Badge, two Army Commendation Medals, as well as Service medals for Meritorious Service and National Defense.
While at home, Wayne has given hundreds of presentations on his experiences overseas, to civic groups and community associations eager to hear the realities of the war on terror from someone who has seen it first hand.
Wayne grew up in a small agricultural community, raised by his mother and grandfather. They sharecropped a small farm, where he learned the values of perseverance, hard work, and honesty. He also learned to appreciate his community and service to others.
After working his way through college and medical school, Wayne practiced orthopaedic surgery in Kentucky, then Atlanta and Vidalia, Georgia.
Wayne married his wife Jennifer in 1992. They have four children, Joseph 12, Anna 10, Matthew 8, and Eva, 1. All the Mosleys are deeply grateful for the kindness and support shown to their family during Wayne’s overseas deployments.
